The Welsh Government has reignited plans for the long-delayed A483 Llandeilo and Ffairfach bypass, launching early market engagement for a £100m road scheme to cut congestion and improve safety in Carmarthenshire.

The project, confirmed in the National Transport Delivery Plan, will see a new route built to divert traffic away from the congested centre of Llandeilo and the A483 crossing through Ffairfach.

A preferred route has already been identified, and the government is now seeking feedback from contractors and consultants before finalising its procurement and delivery model.

The project will include a 100m bridge over the River Towy.

An in-person briefing will be held on 27 October at the Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff, followed by a supplier questionnaire due 10 November.

The full construction contract is expected to go out to tender in February 2026, with works starting by July 2026 and running through to early 2031.

The engagement process is being managed by Arcadis on behalf of the Welsh Government. To attend email.
